Emerald Judge West Midlands Tech Awards

17 December 2018

From winning awards to judging them, December 2018 saw the inaugural West Midlands Tech Awards and Emerald was proud to send CEO Sarah Windrum to sit on the judging panel.

It was tough competition in all categories from digital start-up to innovation in medicine. The 2018 award entries also brought forward a very impressive Proptech sub-sector which the judges felt deserved its own category which was won by Warwick-based Nimbus.

Another fiercely contested category was Innovation in Arts & Culture - the final winner being Coventry based Ludic Rooms with their Open Citizens project engaging a wide and diverse audience across the city in discussions on democracy through digital art.

“It was both a great challenge and immensely rewarding to judge the first West Midlands Tech Awards," Sarah remarked following her intense day with fellow judges locked in a room at headline sponsor Natwest's offices in Birmingham. "I was blown away by the innovative talent we have across all sectors from manufacturing to medicine. I’m so pleased Coventry Live & Birmingham Live are making it an annual event and I’m sure we will see the Awards build reach across the region year on year.”
